“Photography teaches how to discover values in nature that we would not see without the artwork” – Jan Sunderland
For Radek, capturing the world around us in frames is both an aesthetic and metaphysical experience. In his works, in addition to the strict landscape, it is not uncommon for people to appear, which then gives them a special power of transmission. A message that is usually strong and multifaceted, as in the case of the award-winning photograph entitled Prawda gór, 2022 / The Truth of the Mountains, 2022. This work touches upon both the content expressed in its title and, at the same time (or perhaps above all), shows that concentrating on one issue or field only can lead to overlooking something else that is just as important and beautiful (and sometimes much more momentous and delightful) and located literally … “overhead”.
Radek’s landscape works have won prizes or distinctions in the most important competitions in Poland (including one of the main prizes and a distinction in “Sunderland” in 2024, winning the “Swiss” competition by Gazeta Wyborcza in 2022, 2nd place in the Avalanche competition in 2022, etc.), as well as abroad. They are the subject of many national and international publications and exhibitions. They can be found in a lot of private collections and are listed on the auction market in Poland (Art Info) and worldwide (ArtPrice).
“I discovered that the camera cannot express the human soul, but the photographer can!” – Ansel Adams
“Lighting is the soul of the landscape and architecture. Before you take a photo, check, if you can, at what time of the day (and even in what season of the year) it will be most favourable to the subject.”– Jan Sunderland (from Aesthetic Commandments)
